A debacle at work lands you in the hot seat. Technically speaking it’s not your fault but since you’re the supervisor you’ll be expected to take responsibility. This is typically the time when most people in your shoes would hang an underling out to dry, but not you. You know what it’s like to be abandoned by higher ups and swore you’d never do that to someone who works for you. Be candid about what happened and promise to take care of it. It’s the only thing anyone’s interested in. The sooner you come up with an action plan, the sooner you save the day.
