Your Ruling Planet Jupiter is retrograde in Scorpio until July 10.  “Retrograde” refers to a period of time when it appears as if your Ruling Planet is traveling backward in the sky.  Now obviously your Ruling Planet isn’t really moving backwards.  If it were, then we’d all be in a lot of trouble.  “Retrogrades” are an optical illusion based on the earth’s rotation and it’s during this time that your planet starts to act contrary to the way that it normally behaves.  If Jupiter is the planet of beliefs, good luck, and higher purpose then one might assume that you’re entering a time when your beliefs will be shaken, your good luck runs out, and your higher purpose takes off for parts unknown – leaving you high and dry.  Thankfully nothing could be further from the truth.  Even retrograde Jupiter is still Astrology’s star benefic planet and that will never change.

What happens during a Jupiter retrograde is that the energy that’s been pushing you forward – let’s say it’s inspiration for a heartfelt project, excitement about a new romance, or even that “lucky streak” you’ve been enjoying since last October – comes to an abrupt halt and disappears without a trace. It’s like you’re traveling along at a clipped pace when suddenly the wind goes out of your sails. So what do you do now that you find yourself adrift?  You break out the oars and start rowing.

On March 13 Jupiter will form a trine to the Sun in Pisces. Should you find yourself out of your depth regarding a certain situation, responsibility, or looming deadline then this will allow you to renegotiate terms to make things more manageable. People in positions of responsibility want to help out – particularly if you’re struggling with a family concern or a property matter. Maybe you need a relative to pitch in, a temporary loan, or some more time to live in your current digs until you can secure a new residence. The point is that if you ask for assistance (be it emotional or financial) you will certainly get it. If you don’t bring it up, however, you could wind up making matters worse.

Jupiter/Pluto sextiles are rare and the one on April 14 shows money being released to you. This might be funds that had been put on hold, proceeds from an estate settlement, or a healthy return on a long-term investment. It would be a good idea during this time between April 14 and 23 to use the money to pay down debt, to upgrade your property, or to reinvest in your business. In other words, it’s not meant to be spent on retail therapy. Resist the urge to splurge.

May 8 shows you at odds with a boss, supervisor, or client. This isn’t a financial dispute. It appears to be more psychological in nature. You may be projecting on to this person your frustrations with not being further along in your career or you may feel like s/he is spoiling your job performance. This might be a good time to examine your relationship to authority (especially regarding one of your parents). You may be blaming this person for keeping you from doing what you really want to do. Nobody’s saying you can’t walk out on a thankless job if that’s what you want, however it would be best if that’s a decision you make on your own rather than trying to pin it on somebody else.

May 25 brings a lovely trine between Jupiter and Neptune. This is Astrology’s version of “that’s all water under the bridge” and will give you a chance to make amends with someone who had done you wrong. This doesn’t have to be a reconciliation (although it’s not out of the question); what it really brings is the chance to let bygones be bygones with an Ex, a former rival, or that pain-in-the-derriere who’s made your life miserable for longer than you can remember. There’s nothing to be gained by holding a grudge and this allows both of you to lose that chip on your shoulder that you’ve been carrying. Again, you don’t have to be friends as a result, but you’ll both feel a lot better letting go of the pain and anger.

June 1 – 19 brings news of something you had given up on ever seeing again. Maybe it has to do with a mishandled transaction, a lost object, or a possession that was rightfully yours but somebody else claimed. In any case this will be restored to you and you will be very happy to see it.

Finally the Jupiter/Sun trine on July 5 shows you moving forward on a venture, endeavor, or pursuit that you weren’t too sure about. This may or may not pertain to that matter you were struggling with back on March 13. The Stars show that renewed signs of interest and support is all it takes to rekindle that low burning spirit. It will feel reaffirming and even redemptive as you were very close to giving up on this life path all together. It only goes to show that sometimes you have to get lost in order to find yourself again.

On July 10, Ruling Planet Jupiter comes out of retrograde. Be sure to check back here then to see what that means for you.
