CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS

This week’s Super Moon will be in Virgo (March 9) and you can already see people practicing good hygiene – vigorously washing their hands for at least 20 seconds, wiping down seats, knobs, and handles with alcohol wipes, and coughing into their elbows rather than into other people’s faces. It’s a not-so-subtle reminder that our physical welfare is dependent on others – regardless of race, gender, or class. Virgo has always been a zodiac sign associated with cleanliness and purity. Often derided as prudish, it’s interesting to see how all of this changes in a health crisis. But let’s not forget the deeper meaning of Virgo. Virgo is the zodiac sign most entwined with the body. It teaches that each of us is charged with its care and upkeep and that looking after ourselves naturally lends itself to looking out after the selves of others. This is what transforms an “every man out for himself” mentality into a collective effort to provide for everyone because the welfare of a society will always be rooted in the health of each and every one of its individuals.
