LIFE IN LIMBO
Planets often act in the opposite way to how they normally behave when they turn retrograde. Mercury, a planet that seals deals, introduces complications and delays when it’s moving backwards in the sky. Venus brings break-ups instead of make-ups, Mars signals retreats instead of advances, and Jupiter pulls the plug on its good fortune leaving lucky recipients scratching their head in bewilderment. There’s something almost redundant to Saturn turning retrograde. One would hope that a Saturn retrograde might lighten the burden, relax the chokehold, or ease up on the testing – Saturn is the planet of trials and tribulations after all – but actually it just makes things move slower than they did before – like a sloth strung out on valium. And we can honk the horn, raise our fists, and hurl all kinds of epithets; Saturn is still going to take its time. Saturn means serious business when it’s traveling through the zodiac signs that it rules which means that the lessons it teaches and the changes it introduces are meant to last. Saturn will be retrograde until Sept. 29.
