It’s your lucky year, Scorpio, at least in some ways. The best things in 2018 will be delivered by Jupiter, Big Daddy of the solar system, which has just entered your zodiac sign and will be there until November 8. Jupiter is sort of like Texas: everything is big there. It only rolls through your Solar First House of Self once every twelve years, and generally it’s good news for you. It delivers a broader perspective, an ability to promote yourself and a knack for capitalizing on opportunities. It’s also very protective, creating a bumper zone around you. Careful, though, Scorpio. A swelled head and/or expanded waistline are the outer indicators of Jupiter’s capacity for increase.

Self-development is good way to approach Jupiter in the First House. There are specific things you can do to facilitate it: connect with children or have a baby. Launch a creative project if kids aren’t your thing. Get out and date more to get a little romance in your life: nothing serious but not a string of one-nighters either. The idea is to lighten up and have fun. A high point of the year occurs from February 19 – March 5, when there are four planets in the zodiac sign of Pisces, and this completes a wonderful “Grand Trine” in your horoscope. What a wonderful time to travel (especially with a Pisces!), attend a conference, connect with someone from a different country. You could actually have a mystical or spiritual experience, Scorp, if you’ll let it. Truly, you should not let this peak period go by without permitting yourself a nice long drink from its deep waters.

This golden aura provides a backdrop to the rest of your life.

As the year opens, a sibling or neighbor is in need of your help. A chronic condition suddenly becomes critical, and duty requires that you attend to it, with considerable effort or cost on your part. Even once the immediate crisis is resolved, a long-term solution has to be found. That could take up to two years, so prepare yourself for a marathon not a 100 yard dash.

There’s another major shift brewing in your horoscope, and this one is in the all-important Solar Seventh House of Relationship.  The pesky planet Uranus the Disturber will dip his toe into that pool from May 15 to November 16. It’s your one-to-one relationships that will be shaken, not stirred into a new form of being. And this is just the warning notice! Not until March 2019 will Uranus move into its new digs for about seven years, but these few months will give you a taste of what’s to come. This might include your partner acting in an unexpected or erratic manner. Or a sensation that you yourself would like things to change and are willing to entertain new possibilities in that arena that you’ve never considered before. Either one of you could feel antsy, annoyed by the other, or irritable. Because you’re not easily swayed from your commitments, consider how you can find freedom within the confines of monogamy. If you’re single, you get to enact the whole drama yourself, and you find that the old relationship script is suddenly in a foreign language. There’s no way to make sense of it, so a radical new experience of close, one-to-one partnerships is in order. Make the most of this dress rehearsal!

Unfortunately, these relationship questions are blindsided by conditions on the home front or with your family. The identified patient could even be you! One of your Ruling Planets is Mars, known to be rather selfish, independent and insensitive. In the coming year, he’ll be traipsing back and forth in your Solar Fourth House of Home and Family, including a retrograde period from June 26 – August 27. Someone, probably a male, is wreaking havoc with his bad behavior. Whether he’s driving across the lawn on his motorcycle, threatening a lawsuit or sending hostile emails, the disruption is equally exasperating. It all causes quite a crimp in your relationship, too, with a particularly perilous time from May 12 – 15, and then again from August 1 – September 10. This contention between your relationships and your home or family is a prominent theme for the year, and requires you to assume a leadership role. Someone has to be the adult. Even if you’re self-appointed, others do look up to you for your thoughtfulness and wisdom. Operate, then, with the good judgment and integrity that is your birthright. You’ll need it to navigate the whitewaters of 2018.

Conditions shift in November, just in time for your birthday, when six planets change either zodiac sign or direction. Your life continues to evolve, Scorpio, and it’s up to you to make the ride a good one.
